Saturday- day off

Boy did I need the day off even though I was at loose ends. Woke up at a decent hour- 8, and decided to take a drive in the country and do some antiquing. It was good to get away from the quilting for a day- although my mind kept going back to what I am trying to accomplish, and worrying a bit about the critique that I have asked Nancy to give me.

I ended up driving to Springfield Ohio- about an hour and a half away from where I am staying. There is an enormous antique mall there- maybe the biggest one I have ever been in. Lots of glass and furniture and lots and lots of Ohio State memorabilia- which still makes me want to gag- GO BLUE! And in the corner of one of the booths I say this very very funky carved wooden folk art totem pole- which cried out to me. And so very impulsively I bought it! And it is very wonderful. It has bizarre faces carved all around it- it is not an Indian totem pole- more like outsider art- and I have no idea how I am going to fit it in the car on the way home! It reminded me of this very strange clay scuplture I did when I was about 12 years old of screaming faces. I still remember doing this bas relief piece out of clay.

I am looking forward to getting back to the barn tomorrow. I bought some twine today and am going to play around with string and what knots look like. Kind of like what I did with my comb photos. Now, however, I am just going to try to get a good night sleep so I am prepared for the new week.
