It is amazing to me how much weeding is like hand quilting. I am currently hand quilting 3 pieces- it is as slow as molasses but it kind of gets you into a calm spot. Yesterday I weeded and I quilted. And it really settled me. The one difference between the two activities is that quilting moves you forward. Weeding is ongoing. And just when you think you have made some progress there are new weeds sprouting.
It has taken me a number of weeks to figure out how to quilt my black and white anxiety quilt. I think the background has to be somewhat quiet so the black lines and stitching do not get overwhelmed. And that means it almost has to be hand quilted. It is a much softer feeling. The only problem is that hand quilting takes so much time- time i do not have. Time I will have to make.
