Un-multi-tasking

Getting ahead

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and starting on the first one.” - Mark Twain

I love the beginning of a new piece- there are so many fits and starts- so many experiments- many which do not work- but the design portion is  rewarding. This technique is very very slow and it is hard to plan too far ahead- so I have to be patient and be prepared to rip out things that do not work... like the ugly racetrack circle on the left that took a morning to do- and as soon as I was done I knew it was coming out. This is when it is really nice to have a good ripper- or several of them.
But I would not trade this part of the process for anything- and when I am sitting there using zillions of pins as I go around the curves, I have to remember the fun part.
